Learning log inside classroom 24/6/2013
Today, we are learning about
Pronunciation teaching, culture teaching, language evaluation and CLT.
The first is Pronunciation
teaching. Teacher have to use phonetics symbol for teaching because it is easy
to practice pronounce the word and it is correct. Teacher must pronounce with
accuracy because you are model of learners.
The second is culture teaching.
A broad concept that embraces all aspects of human life. Culture and language
is pairing. Activities in class is making for personalize. Design of course
objective. Scientific reading activities.
There are lots of techniques
for example
- cultural island
- culture capsule ( it is the
best way : describe about goals, teacher giving an information and then tell
the different of 2 culture.
- celebrating festival always
use for closed the class.
- kinetic and body language
The third is language
evaluation. It is the way to access the students what they have known and what
they have to learn much more. Nowadays, we'll use authentic assessment. The
last is CLT. It is the approach that focus on links language ability with
communicative. It should use interaction a lot.
Before finished the class,
student give an assignment. Write the name of 4 unit ( unit 1 about local, 2
about regional, 3 about global and 4 about glocal) and make a lesson plan for 4
topics, too.

Today, we are learning about
Content-based instruction, Listening teaching, Reading teaching, Speaking
teaching, writing teaching and Vocabulary teaching.
The first, content-based
instruction. It focus on teaching content. Students can use English language
for learning other subject by coordinate 4 skills with topic. Learning and
teaching are on background knowledge of the learners. All of subject use
content in English. Learn vocabulary from context. Vocabulary must easy and
clear. Content have to start with easy until hard because it focus on students
to use language for learning more contents.
The second, listening teaching.
This approach focus on meaning more than language. There are 3 step to teach
listening
1. Pre-listening - Plan the
goals for listening, choose how to translate.
2. During-listening - cut the
unnecessary for make you understand.
- listen, view again for check comprehension.
- ask for help.
3.After-listening - Evaluate
comprehension and strategy that you use.
- modify strategy if necessary.
The third, Speaking teaching.
This approach, teacher is the tutor. They have to teach how to pronounce
correct word and train learners for accuracy and fluency speaking.
The fourth, Reading teaching.
Teach about many strategies such as how to catch the main idea. The fifth,
Writing teaching. Teacher must understand the reason that students want to
tell. Give them to write what they like and give a helpful feedback to them for
develop their next writing.
The last is vocabulary
teaching. Teacher won't to tell the meaning with learners. Give them how to
guess the meaning from context and how to find the meaning by themselves.
There are many strategies for
teaching that teacher have to find and bring it into teaching. If you want your
students are successful in English language, you must help them.

Learning Log inside classroom week 2

Today
is a second class of this term. Teacher starts the class with show the Rubric.
It is the rule of presentation’s evaluation. The first is preparedness. Teacher
gives a student’s 4 point, if they completely prepared and has obviously reheard.
The second is speaks clearly. They will get 4 point, if they speak clearly and distinctly
all the time, and mispronounce the word. The third is use complete sentences.
The fourth is posture & eye contact. The fifth is content and the last is
volume. It is necessary for student to know their mistake for next presentation.
The
first topic of the day is Beliefs. Beliefs are perception and faith of teacher
for understanding the learners and select an approach that is appropriate for them.
It can help the teacher for great teaching. William Burden is dividing into
three areas 1. Language learning 2. Learners 3. Themselves as language teacher
The
second topic is Task-based learning. It is the approach for communicative.
Learners are learning by task. It is the logical outcome of theories of second
language learning associated with 3 things
1.
Students
must show the real understanding in language learning.
2.
Students
are active to use target language for communication.
3.
Students
have motivated for learning.
This approach is different from other because it
starts with Presentation follow by Practice and then Production.
The last topic of the day is Project-based learning.
It is emphasizes learning activities that are long term. Students are learning
by doing project. Students will know the problem and use the problem for
learning. Learners must learn with their group outside classroom and teacher
will evaluate from task or project of them.
For
English classroom, how to teach is important. Teacher must know and understand
about what they want to teach and how to make understand for learners. It will
help them for successful in English classroom.
